Dress Code Guide

At Believers Worship Center, we recognize that every environment calls for a manner of dressing that reflects its purpose and values. Just as the world expresses itself through fashion and appearance, believers are called to express their identity in Christ through modesty, dignity, and spiritual awareness.

Our approach to dressing is not rooted in outward display alone, but in a deeper understanding that our bodies are vessels meant to honor God. As Scripture reminds us:

“Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you… therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” — 1 Corinthians 6:19–20

Guidelines for Women

Women are encouraged to dress in a manner that reflects modesty, reverence, and distinction.

This includes:

  • Covering of the hair, in obedience to biblical instruction:
  • Avoiding clothing that exposes the body inappropriately, such as short dresses or revealing attire
  • Refraining from wearing trousers, in line with our interpretation of maintaining clear distinction and modesty

These practices are guided by the principle that:

“In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety…”  - 1 Timothy 2:9

“Every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head.” - 1 Corinthians 11:5

Dressed with purpose, covered in grace, and walking in the beauty of holiness.

Modesty is not limitation, it is dignity, confidence, and a reflection of inner beauty.

Grace in appearance, purity in heart, reflecting God’s beauty through modest and honorable dressing.

A reflection of godliness, where simplicity meets beauty and grace speaks louder than fashion.

Clothed in dignity and strength, expressing faith through appearance and character.

Guidelines for Men

Men are equally called to reflect order, modesty, and identity in their dressing:

  • Avoid wearing anything that is identified with women
  • Maintain a standard of appearance that is disciplined and not driven by worldly trends

This aligns with the scriptural instruction:

“The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment…”  -  Deuteronomy 22:5

Funeral Dress Code (Cultural & Biblical Expression of Mourning)

At the passing of a beloved member, the church observes a unified dress code of black and white attire. This practice reflects both our Ghanaian cultural expression of mourning and a biblical acknowledgment of grief and solemn reflection.

Black signifies mourning and sorrow, while white represents hope, resurrection, and the believer’s rest in God.

Scripture affirms that there is a time for mourning:

“To everything there is a season… a time to weep, and a time to mourn.”  - Ecclesiastes 3:1,4

Additionally, the Bible recognizes visible expressions of grief and solemnity:

“And in that day did the Lord God of hosts call to weeping, and to mourning…”  - Isaiah 22:12

By dressing in black and white, we stand together in honor, unity, and reverence, while also

affirming our faith in the promise of eternal life.
