Great fortune visited many inmates in the prisons of Ghana during Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah (The Voice of God)’s 60th birthday celebration.
On Monday the 4th of March in the year of our Lord 2023, which marked the 60th birthday of Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah (The Voice of God), it became the talk of the town, when Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah (The Voice of God) undertook another jaw-dropping event at three different prisons, in three different regions in Ghana to mark his Sixty years of God’s uncommon grace and unfailing mercies. Happening within the space of 24hrs, Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah (The Voice of God) freed and settled the fines of over 25 prisoners. On top of that he gave each of the inmates an amount of GHS 1,800 to start up a new livelihood. Approximately, over ten prisoners from the Kumasi Central Prisons gained their total freedom on that very day.
Speaking with the News Reporter, Bismark Kwame Amoako Gyampah on Second Chance TV, some of the inmates revealed that they were sentenced for three years and fined with GHS 2,400 for stealing valuable items. Philip Antwi (another inmate) also disclosed in the same news that he was fined with GHS 1,200 and sentenced for two years of hard labour as a result of fighting.
Shedding light on the great benefits that the gesture by Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah (The Voice of God) will bring to the prisoners, the government and the country, Mr. Joseph Asabire, Deputy director of Prisons shared his impression with the public: ” The perennial issue of congestion rate is increasingly alarming because, this kind of act barely happens in our various prisons. The Kumasi Central Prisons was built for four hundred and fifty (450) inmates but, the rooms are currently overcrowded with about One thousand Nine hundred and Nineteen (1,919) inmates which is a huge threat to the lives and living conditions of the prisoners. Therefore, the timely intervention by Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah (The Voice of God) is very important to both the inmates and the government since a lot of expenditures on food, health care and other prison maintenance will be reduced, allowing the government to reallocate resources to other pressing issues “. He clarified.
In the bigger picture, supporting the inmates with an amount of GHS 1,800 by Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah (The Voice of God) is pivotal, since it will help them reintegrate into the society and avoid recidivism. Due to the stigma surrounding victims as such, the support will significantly boost their psychological well-being as far as their mental health is concerned. Seven(7) inmates in the Koforidua prison who were geographically from Accra, Suhum and Nkawkaw respectively, also gained their absolute freedom on that day. In addition, seven (7) other set of prisoners in Tarkwa were also freed by Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah (The Voice of God).
Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah (The Voice of God)’s act of freeing prisoners and providing them with financial support is a remarkable gesture which underscores the power of compassion, the importance of second chances, and the need for a rehabilitative approach to justice. Such actions not only transform lives but also inspire broader societal change, highlighting the profound impact of benevolent leadership.
Crime fighting is a shared responsibility. Therefore, Individuals, Philanthropists, Institutions and Organizations were advised to accord with Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah (The Voice of God) and come together to curb unlawful acts in the country.
